Sump pumps are the cheapest flood insurance a homeowner can have installed. Having an automatic pump to expel water from a pit in your basement or crawlspace eliminates the dangers of flooding.
In many cases, these sump pits have corrugated or perforated pipes attached to them (also known as drain tiles) that either:
These piping systems are designed to drain water into your sump pit and with no way of removing the built up water, flooding occurs. The addition of a sump pump allows you to drain this water before flooding damages your home.
Radon gas can be dramatically reduced by using an existing sump drainage system. We can pull out radon gas more effectively by taking advantage of the perimeter drain under your basement slab, crawlspace or even in your window well. The one drawback to this radon mitigation system is that the drainage piping and sump pit cannot be fully flooded or else pulling radon gas isn't possible. Having a sump pump installed to expel that excess water allows for our fan to have unrestricted air flow, which in turn drastically reduces radon levels in your home.
